The Hartford, Connecticut-based company said it had net income of $2.61 per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were $2.73 per share.
The asset management company posted revenue of $130.7 million in the period.
Virtus shares have risen 52 percent since the beginning of the year. The stock has climbed nearly 6 percent in the last 12 months.
