Vitaminwater scroll-free challenge: Would you give up your smartphone in 2019 for $100K?

Vitaminwater is giving one person $100,000 if they give up their smartphone for a year.

If you're looking for a New Year's resolution, look no further.

Vitaminwater is giving one person $100,000 if they give up their smartphone for a year.

From now until Jan. 8, users can enter the contest by posting to Twitter or Instagram. The post should say what they would do for 365 days without the ability to text or have the internet in their pocket, and should include the hashtags #nophoneforayear and #contest.

Those who are "required to use a smartphone for work or other commitments" need not apply, the beverage company said.

After the contest period is over, one lucky participant will be chosen to complete the no-phone challenge. A 1996-era cell phone that only makes and receives phone calls will be given to the participant for the year, according to contest rules.

If they make it through the year without even touching a smartphone, the cash is theirs.

Vitaminwater, understanding the tall order at hand, is still willing to dish $10,000 if the contestant can last six months without a smartphone.

For those thinking about deceiving the beverage company, if selected, a lie-detector test will be involved at the end of the challenge, Vitaminwater said.

Complete contest rules can be found on Vitaminwater.com.
