SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) _ Vocera Communications Inc. (VCRA) on Monday reported a loss of $3.5 million in its second quarter.
On a per-share basis, the San Jose, California-based company said it had a loss of 11 cents. Earnings, adjusted for stock option expense and amortization costs, were 10 cents per share.
The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 7 cents per share.
The hospital mobile communications company posted revenue of $47.3 million in the period, also exceeding Street forecasts. Five analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $40 million.
Vocera shares have increased 13% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Monday, shares hit $23.43, a fall of 17% in the last 12 months.
