W.Va. pump prices rise 7.6 cents in a week

AAA fuel gauge shows price of gas rising plus-7 cents in West Virginia

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) -- The average price at the pump took a big jump in West Virginia this week to $3.90 a gallon.

That average price per gallon for regular unleaded is up 7.6 cents since last week, according to the AAA's fuel gauge. It makes the price of gas in West Virginia almost a dime higher than the national average.

While lagging California's $4.67 a gallon average, some pumps in West Virginia are inching up to the $4-a-gallon mark. Bridgeport, Clarksburg and Martinsburg are within 5 or 6 cents of that mark.

On the bright side, unleaded regular can still be purchased in Weirton at $3.80 a gallon.

Last year at this time, gas was $3.41 a gallon in West Virginia.
