Freebies that will be available during that time include:

Information on health insurance options as well as the open enrollment program for Medicare and Affordable Care Act plans will also be available.

George Riedl, senior vice president and president of health and wellness for Walmart U.S., says in a company announcement:

“As more than 90 percent of Americans live within 10 miles of a Walmart store, we’re committed and uniquely positioned to providing accessible and affordable healthcare that helps busy families live better. Walmart Wellness Day is at the center of that commitment. These screenings provide customers with a basic yet vital understanding of their general health conditions and ways to improve it.”

Blood glucose screenings help detect diabetes. Walmart’s announcement about Saturday’s event notes that 1.7 million Americans are diagnosed with diabetes every year, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Blood pressure screenings help detect high blood pressure, also known as hypertension. About 75 million American adults — or 1 in 3 adults — have this condition, according to the CDC.
