Walmart teams up with Ellen DeGeneres for 'inclusive' new fashion line

Walmart (WMT), the world’s largest retailer, is looking to boost its apparel sales by teaming up with TV host and comedian Ellen DeGeneres to launch a new women’s fashion line.

Called EV1, a play on the word “everyone,” the new line is inspired by “inclusiveness,” offering a range of size options.

The new line features jeans, T-shirts with inspirational sayings, and sneakers all for $30 or less. It will be available online and in 2,300 stores beginning September 10.

“EV1 promotes kindness and love and diversity. We wanted it to appeal and be available to as many people as possible. Plus, it really is adorable,” DeGeneres said in a statement.

Walmart, which sees most of its sales coming from groceries and other household staples, has been working on revamping its e-commerce experience by rolling out a cleaner and sleeker Walmart.com. The retailer is also offering “premium” brands through Lord & Taylor and new features such as 3D shopping for home furnishings.
