In May 2022, Top Gun: Maverick flew into theaters and left everyone enamored with Tom Cruise's triumphant return to the big screen. Nearing four decades after the original Top Gun captured audiences, the highly-anticipated sequel about Pete "Maverick" Mitchell has earned critical acclaim as well. What's more, the movie may just sweep at the 2023 Oscars, garnering six nods including the coveted Best Picture award.

For those who don't remember, Top Gun: Maverick is set 36 years after the first installment. This time around, Maverick finds himself training an entirely new class of Top Gun recruits (Miles Teller, Glen Powell and Jay Ellis). While he's busy confronting his past (after all, the son of Maverick's dead best friend Goose is among the rookie pilots), familiar faces pop up through the film.

Namely, viewers will instantly recognize Val Kilmer reprising his role as Maverick's former foe-turned-friend Tom "Iceman" Kazansky. But as this all occurs, Maverick realizes he needs to deal with old demons before going on a mission, which may change the lives of those who ultimately choose to partake in it.

Now, with the 2023 Academy Awards officially here, there might be a few questions lingering like when is Top Gun: Maverick coming out on streaming and DVD? How can you buy or rent it at home? Luckily, you don't have to wait because it's already available for folks to see.

Here's the info you need to know about watching and streaming the action-packed Oscar-nominated movie online.

Over the last few years, Paramount has garnered a reputation for allowing new movies to play in theaters for at least 45 days before debuting them on their premiere streaming platform. Though many speculated that Top Gun: Maverick would land on Paramount+ in early July, it officially flew onto the site in December 2022.

To watch, you'll need a Paramount+ account first. If you're a new subscriber, you can try out a one-week free trial before opting into plans that start at $4.99 a month or $49.99 a year. The platform also gives a 25% discount rate for students, so if you qualify for that, absolutely check that deal out. If you're already a subscriber, all you have to do is head over to the movie page on the website or the Paramount+ app.

In addition, Paramount announced that the movie is now available to buy on Ultra 4K HD, Blu-ray and DVD. Fans can purchase a physical copy of Top Gun: Maverick, complete with exclusive bonus content and a teaser trailer for Tom's next blockbuster movie Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One, coming out in July 2023.
