Washington Post names Goldberg as board member

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Washington Post Co. has named SurveyMonkey CEO Dave Goldberg as a director, increasing the size of the board to 11 members.

Goldberg founded Launch Media Inc. in 1994. The company, which delivered music and music-related content online, was sold to Yahoo Inc. in 2001. He served as vice president and general manager of Yahoo Music after the sale. In 2009, he joined SurveyMonkey, which lets businesses and organizations create online surveys.

On Thursday, The Washington Post Co. also declared a quarterly dividend of $2.45 per share, the same as what the company has been paying this year. The dividend will be paid on Nov. 2 to shareholders of record on Oct. 22.

The company's stock increased $3.18, or nearly 1 percent, to $353.86 in afternoon trading Thursday.
