Washington trades safety Su'a Cravens to Denver, and Cravens seems thrilled

Whatever happened between the Washington Redskins and safety Su’a Cravens last year, it’s over now.

The 2016 second-round draft pick, who didn’t play a snap last season, leading to some drama between him and Washington, has been traded to the Denver Broncos, with Washington getting a fifth-rounder from Denver and the teams swapping other draft picks.

Cravens is seemingly thrilled with the move. Within minutes of learning he was headed to the Broncos, he changed his Twitter bio to reflect his new team, and he also posted a pretty funny video:

In a subsequent tweet he wrote, “Pack your bag kids we’re going snowboarding!”

A second-round pick out of Southern California in 2016, Cravens played in 11 games with three starts as a rookie, ending the season with a biceps injury. But on the eve of the 2017 regular season, he stunned Washington by telling team brass he wanted to retire.

He cited personal and health-related reasons.

Initially, Washington general manager Bruce Allen convinced Cravens to take a little time and postpone his decision, and then Cravens was placed on the exempt list, which would have given him and the team a month to sort things out.

But before that month was over, Washington placed Cravens, listed at 6-foot-1, 225 pounds, on the reserve/left squad list, which ended any chance of him playing in 2017.

In the months since, Cravens has undergone “targeted treatment and rehabilitation” for “post-concussion syndrome,” according to his agent, and he’s cleared medically to return to play. He was reinstated by the NFL last month.

Via ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the trade is this: Washington sends Cravens, a fourth-round pick (113th overall) and fifth-round pick (149th) to the Broncos, and is receiving a slightly higher fourth-round pick (109th), slightly higher fifth-round pick (142nd) plus the 163rd pick this year and a conditional sixth-round pick in 2020.
