Watch: LeBron James joins Drake on stage at Staples Center to perform 'Sicko Mode'

If it wasn’t clear that LeBron James and Drake are close friends before this week, their appearances together over the past few days have certainly confirmed it.

After Drake went on James’ HBO show “The Shop”, The King returned the favor by joining Drake on stage during his concert with Migos at Staples Center in Los Angeles on Saturday night. James has long been known as an avid hip-hop fan — even going so far as helping get Kendrick Lamar to drop his “Untitled Unmastered” album in 2016 — so it’s no surprise to see him pop up at one of the biggest tours in rap right now.

Still, it’s wildly fun watching him get the crowd hyped up while Drake launches into his verse from Travis Scott’s “Sicko Mode.”

James intervened in Drake’s feud with Pusha T

Another fun tidbit that’s come to light about their friendship is how much Drake leaned on LeBron when a beef with Pusha T seemed ready to boil over during the summer.

On “The Shop”, Drake revealed that he wrote a diss track in response to Kanye West and Pusha except James was able to help talk him out of releasing it. But, being the hip-hop fan that he is, James couldn’t deny that a small part of him wanted the song to drop.

“As a hip-hop historian who loves hip-hop, I would love for you to respond,” James said. “I said ‘selfishly’ in all caps. ‘But I want you to know one thing, we’re family, you’re a brother of mine, you could never, ever let me down. Ever.’ And I left it at that.”

It’s tough not to imagine what other tracks LeBron has been consulted on at this point, especially with the Hollywood side of his career flourishing. It’s hard to believe this will be the last time James influences another artist’s decision-making.

Maybe one day LeBron will convince Drake to unload on Kanye and Pusha T. Until then, fans will have to settle for them going crazy on stage together.

There are certainly worse consolation prizes.
