Dr. Richard Bartle, Senior Lecturer and Honorary Professor of Computer Game Design at the University of Essex, laid the foundation for much of the online gaming industry. He co-wrote the first virtual world, MUD (Multi-User Dungeon), in 1978 and his development of the Player Types model (1996) was hugely influential for the entire MMO space. At Casual Connect London, Dr. Bartle decided to revisit his research on player types (achievers, explorers, socializers, and killers) to explore what constitues cheating for each type, something that's incredibly important for developers.

"Understanding your players is the number one thing you need to do when you're developing games, " he stressed. You can enjoy Dr. Bartle's full presentation below.
