NEW YORK (AP) _ Weight Watchers International Inc. (WW) on Tuesday reported second-quarter earnings of $53.8 million.
The New York-based company said it had profit of 78 cents per share.
The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of eight analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 65 cents per share.
The weight-loss program operator posted revenue of $369 million in the period, which did not meet Street forecasts. Six analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $375.2 million.
Weight Watchers expects full-year earnings to be $1.55 to $1.70 per share, with revenue expected to be $1.4 billion.
Weight Watchers shares have decreased 45% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Tuesday, shares hit $21.01, a decline of 77% in the last 12 months.
