When looking at the institutional investors followed by Insider Monkey, Tenzing Global Investors, managed by Chet Kapoor, holds the biggest position in Gogo Inc (NASDAQ:GOGO). Tenzing Global Investors has a $41.5 million position in the stock, comprising 13.3% of its 13F portfolio. Coming in second is Mudrick Capital Management, managed by Jason Mudrick, which holds a $38.2 million position; 4.3% of its 13F portfolio is allocated to the stock. Other members of the smart money that are bullish comprise D. E. Shaw's D E Shaw, Israel Englander's Millennium Management and Amy Minella's Cardinal Capital. In terms of the portfolio weights assigned to each position Tenzing Global Investors allocated the biggest weight to Gogo Inc (NASDAQ:GOGO), around 13.31% of its 13F portfolio. Mudrick Capital Management is also relatively very bullish on the stock, setting aside 4.33 percent of its 13F equity portfolio to GOGO.

As one would reasonably expect, some big names were breaking ground themselves. Cardinal Capital, managed by Amy Minella, created the largest position in Gogo Inc (NASDAQ:GOGO). As you can see these stocks had an average of 14.9 hedge funds with bullish positions and the average amount invested in these stocks was $160 million. That figure was $172 million in GOGO's case. Affimed NV (NASDAQ:AFMD) is the most popular stock in this table. On the other hand Nicolet Bankshares Inc. (NASDAQ:NCBS) is the least popular one with only 3 bullish hedge fund positions. Gogo Inc (NASDAQ:GOGO) is not the most popular stock in this group but hedge fund interest is still above average. Our overall hedge fund sentiment score for GOGO is 72. Stocks with higher number of hedge fund positions relative to other stocks as well as relative to their historical range receive a higher sentiment score. This is a slightly positive signal but we'd rather spend our time researching stocks that hedge funds are piling on. Our calculations showed that top 5 most popular stocks among hedge funds returned 95.8% in 2019 and 2020, and outperformed the S&P 500 ETF (SPY) by 40 percentage points. These stocks gained 28.5% in 2021 through July 23rd and beat the market again by 10.1 percentage points.
