Wesley Batterton Shares the Positive Benefits and Impact of Coaching

Youth coach Wesley Batterton encourages others to volunteer as leaders in their communities, and he explains the positive impact and benefits of coaching below.

MONTGOMERY, TX / ACCESSWIRE / May 15, 2020 / Texas-native Wesley Batterton is a frequent volunteer with local community programs and outreaches such as Texas 4H and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Additionally, he volunteers as a coach for a regional youth baseball league and for a football team in Montgomery. Batterton prides his time spent leading the team of emerging athletes and wishes more people volunteered in leadership capacities in their communities.

"Through coaching, individuals teach lifelong skills to others but also help them to achieve personal growth and learn how to work together on a team," says Wesley Batterton. "There's a lot of personal benefit in it, too, that makes the entire experience just as rewarding for the coaches."

Batterton shares what he believes are some of the top benefits of coaching below.

Bringing Communities Together

Community programs and sports groups are excellent ways for kids--and even adults--to come together, promote physical activity, and learn to function as positive components of a team. Friendships are developed and casual relationships are made stronger with lasting memories. Wesley Batterton says coaches can teach healthy social skills, too, and encourage participation with mutual benefits.

"When they leave a game or gathering, those involved tend to take the positive things they've learned or experienced into their everyday lives, improving their impact in the community," says Wesley Batterton.

Teaching Others to Push Their Limits

Coaches inspire and uplift the people they lead and help them push past insecurities, doubts, or inexperience to achieve greatness. They essentially teach people to look beyond their own limits to discover their inner strength and overcome challenges.

"What they discover in themselves will last a lifetime, helping propel them over hurdles in the long run and strengthening their self-confidence," says Wesley Batterton.

Achieving Personal Growth as a Coach

When coaches lead others to victory and teach their players to grow and develop, they also take action towards satisfying their own life goals. This gratification carries over after sports are finished and empowers coaches to continue doing good deeds in their communities while feeling accomplished overall.

"I've learned that leading a team encourages me to look past my own problems and see beyond my own circumstances," says Wesley Batterton. "It helps me increase my own self-worth while helping others to grow and develop, both as athletes and individuals. And when the day is done, I feel like it's easier taking on new challenges having the satisfaction of knowing I've helped people achieve a greater state of being."
