VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) _ Westport Innovations Inc. (WPRT) on Thursday reported third-quarter net income of $5 million, after reporting a loss in the same period a year earlier.
The Vancouver, British Columbia-based company said it had profit of 4 cents per share. Losses, adjusted for non-recurring gains and to account for discontinued operations, were 1 cent per share.
The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 3 cents per share.
The maker of natural-gas engine technology posted revenue of $75.4 million in the period.
In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, the company's shares hit $3.04. A year ago, they were trading at $2.64.
