BENTON HARBOR, Mich. (AP) _ Whirlpool Corp. (WHR) on Tuesday reported third-quarter net income of $358 million.
The Benton Harbor, Michigan-based company said it had net income of $5.57 per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains, were $3.97 per share.
The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $3.96 per share.
The maker of Maytag, KitchenAid and other appliances posted revenue of $5.09 billion in the period, which missed Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $5.15 billion.
Whirlpool expects full-year earnings in the range of $14.75 to $15.50 per share.
Whirlpool shares have risen 50% since the beginning of the year, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index has risen 20%. In the final minutes of trading on Tuesday, shares hit $160.55, a rise of 51% in the last 12 months.
