Whirlpool says U.S. to impose duties on washers after ITC ruling

Whirlpool (WHR) announced that the U.S. International Trade Commission, or ITC, ruled that unlawful pricing by Samsung (SSNLF) and LG caused injury to the U.S. clothes washer industry. The vote was the ITC's final ruling in the international trade investigations related to clothes washers from South Korea and Mexico. As a result of today's vote, the U.S. government will impose duties on imports of the unlawfully traded clothes washers. Whirlpool said it welcomes the decision, which is in response to anti-dumping and anti-subsidy petitions filed by the company in December 2011 on behalf of the U.S. appliance industry.
