As an investor, I look for investments which does not compromise one fundamental factor for another. By this I mean, I look at stocks holistically, from their financial health to their future outlook. In the case of Xilinx, Inc. (NASDAQ:XLNX), it is a financially-sound , dividend-paying company with a a strong history of performance. Below is a brief commentary on these key aspects. For those interested in digger a bit deeper into my commentary, take a look at the report on Xilinx here.
Solid track record with adequate balance sheet and pays a dividend
Over the past year, XLNX has grown its earnings by 77%, with its most recent figure exceeding its annual average over the past five years. This illustrates a strong track record, leading to a satisfying return on equity of 32%. which paints a buoyant picture for the company. XLNX's strong financial health means that all of its upcoming liability payments are able to be met by its current cash and short-term investment holdings. This indicates that XLNX has sufficient cash flows and proper cash management in place, which is a key determinant of the company’s health. XLNX seems to have put its debt to good use, generating operating cash levels of 0.6x total debt in the most recent year. This is also a good indication as to whether debt is properly covered by the company’s cash flows.
XLNX is also a dividend company, with ample net income to cover its dividend payout, which has been consistently growing over the past decade, keeping income investors happy.
