Why wasn't Kate Middleton at Meghan Markle's baby shower?

Meghan Markle made headlines this week starting the minute that she landed in New York for her baby shower.

Held at a $75k a night penthouse on the Upper East Side, Meghan was surrounded by famous friends like Serena Williams, Amal Clooney and Abigail Spencer to celebrate Baby Sussex, but one person was notably missing from the festivities: Duchess Kate.

While some may think that Kate missed her sister-in-law's shower due to the speculated drama between the two duchesses, it turns out that Kate's absence can most likely be chalked up to a very reasonable explanation.

The Sun reported on Wednesday afternoon that Duchess Kate simply had a scheduling conflict with Meghan's New York trip, as it overlapped with her children's half-term break from school, and "according to a royal source, the Cambridges have jetted off on a secret snow-filled holiday for some much-needed family time together."

Royal fans will remember Kate and Will shared adorable pictures of their family in 2016, back when they were just a family of four, wearing their winter best in the French Alps. Perhaps we can expect a few more sweet snaps next week!
