SEATTLE, WA--(Marketwired - Mar 31, 2016) - Workhouse Creative, a branded content studio, today announced the opening of its new two-story headquarters. Designed to redefine the traditional ad agency model, merging creative and production under one roof, the renovation follows Workhouse's rapid growth over the past few years and is a strategic plan to expand and enhance its services into the global market.
"Clients like Microsoft, Intel, and McDonald's rely on us to solve problems that are more experimental or too outlandish to classify," says Keith Rivers, founder and director of Workhouse Creative. "Our clients are creative, so I wanted to build a place where they could speak their mind and then make their story come to life all under one roof. That's Workhouse."
Located in the heart of Seattle's Central District, the 8,200-square-foot space features the work of local artists. A hand-painted mural by Ten Hundred Art rests on the back wall of the office's basketball court; reclaimed wood tables by Plank & Grain were designed for collaborative work sessions; and Ben Zamora, Seattle's acclaimed lighting architect, designed the celestial fluorescent light sculpture hanging above the staircase. Eli Martin, managing director of Workhouse Creative, worked with Seattle firm Shed Architects to design the space.
Workhouse's state-of-the-art post-production facility includes eight VFX workstations with 3D capabilities; three edit suites; superior color and sound suites; and an enormous server named Megatron. Additionally, the first floor includes a homey living room complete with a full, contemporary kitchen, bunk bed room and even a boxing area. The main floor is designed to be a collaborative space, featuring high ceilings, natural light from surrounding windows, and an open floor plan that includes a ping-pong game room.
Formerly Seattle's historic St. George hotel, the building was an important part of the Central Area's music scene in the 1930s; community musicians gathered in the basement, which served as a speakeasy during Prohibition.
Stylistic aspects of the space were designed with inspiration from Workhouse Creative's work on the Microsoft's Surface 1 announcement video, as well as other well-designed modern workspaces, including the Red Bull and Google offices.
