We bet you didn’t know that two casual restaurant icons, IHOP and Applebee’s, were owned by the same parent company, DineEquity. A decade after bringing both chains under one roof, we’re finally getting a combination IHOP/Applebee’s restaurant, the first of which will open in Detroit in late 2017. That’s right: You’ll (hopefully) be able to eat smiley face pancakes and baby back ribs in the same location.

The 12,000-foot, 300-seat co-branded dining experience will be opening in the Millender Center, across from the Renaissance Center, and will be designed with hotel guests in mind, as well as downtown visitors, office workers, and residents, according to the Detroit Free Press. The menu is still being developed, but there will definitely be a coffee bar.

"This is the first IHOP/Applebee's combo that’s ever been built anywhere," executive chairman Mark Schostak told the Press. “We are proud to expand our portfolio by uniquely combining two nationally recognized and family-oriented brands."
