Kwame White, the founder of WSEL Bags (@diaperbagsfordad), started the brand because he noticed a gap in the diaper bag industry.
“When my wife and I found out that we were first pregnant, I knew right away I would be an active and involved father, just like my father was,” said White. “I was looking for a good diaper bag and I saw a lot of different diaper bag options but it seemed to be that a lot of them were catered to mothers.”
So White, who has a background in retail and supply chain relations, decided to tap into his resources and start WSEL Bags. “We’re now able to offer some of the best bags on the market,” said White.
As for the name of the brand, WSEL stands for “Work Smart Enjoy Life,” which is the philosophy that White built the brand on.
“In developing our company I realized that looking at the functionality and features of our bags, it helps parents to work smarter,” explained White. “As a result I’m able to focus and really enjoy the time I have with my family and just be in the moment, because I know that I have everything I need.”
These bags definitely hold everything a parent could need, and more. Plus, WSEL offers a wide range of bags to suit a wide range of lifestyles and storage preferences.
There’s the Jett Bag, which has an easy access baby essentials pocket that’s perfect for holding books, diapers, wipes, spoons or as White puts it, “Anything you would need to quickly access to take care of your baby.”
There’s also the Jaden Bag, which has 4 insulated bottle pockets on the inside, an easy access wipes pocket, and a large laptop pocket for dads who need to work on the go.
Then there’s the Kobe Bag, which is loaded with convenient pockets and has comfortable padding on the back. Plus, the Kobe has hidden pockets that allow wearers to expand the bag three additional inches!
Each bag has its own special qualities, but all WSEL bags are stylish, durable, and functional, and they each come with a built-in charging port.
Clearly, White puts a lot of thought into both his brand and the bags themselves, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive.
“The reception has been amazing. We’re one of the only black-owned companies in this industry. And the media has been loving our bags,” said White. “We’ve been featured in several newspapers and magazines. which has really helped us to get our story out and really help a lot of parents all over the world.”
