MINNEAPOLIS (AP) _ Xcel Energy Inc. (XEL) on Thursday reported fourth-quarter net income of $227.5 million.
On a per-share basis, the Minneapolis-based company said it had profit of 45 cents.
The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of seven analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 44 cents per share.
The utility posted revenue of $2.79 billion in the period.
For the year, the company reported profit of $1.12 billion, or $2.21 per share. Revenue was reported as $11.11 billion.
Xcel expects full-year earnings in the range of $2.25 to $2.35 per share.
Xcel shares have dropped slightly since the beginning of the year, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index has risen almost 2 percent. The stock has increased slightly more than 5 percent in the last 12 months.
