Value investors Yacktman Asset Management on Friday announced purchase of two new positions, SPDR S&P 500 (SPY) and Otelco Inc. (OTEL).

Yacktman Asset Management is led by chief investment officer Stephen Yacktman, noted investor Donald Yacktman (Trades, Portfolio)'s son. After running the firm since founding it in 1992, Donald Yacktman (Trades, Portfolio) remains involved in a limited capacity as partner and portfolio manager.


Headquartered in Austin, Yacktman Asset Management has $15.7 billion in assets under management. The prioritize three characteristics in companies they may invest in: good business, shareholder-oriented management and low price.

Their strategy has served to deliver annualized returns of 10.48% since inception, compared to 9.77% for its benchmark S&P 500 index.

SPDR S&P 500 (SPY)

Yacktman Asset Management purchased 4,341 shares of the S&P 500 index, which traded in the fourth quarter for around $260 per share. The holding represents only 0.01% of the portfolio.

Otelco Inc. (OTEL)

The firm purchased 34,031 shares of Otelco Inc., which traded in the fourth quarter for around $11 per share. The holding represents less than 0.01% of the portfolio.

Otelco Inc. has a market cap of $47.950 million; its shares were traded around $14.33 Friday with a P/E ratio of 8.67 and P/S ratio of 0.74.
