'Yes, I care. Do you?' Amber Heard, Lena Dunham, Mira Sorvino among celebs protesting Trump's immigration policy in Texas

Celebrities aren’t just protesting Donald Trump’s immigration policy from their social media accounts — they’re traveling thousands of miles to show up in Texas to protest in person.

Over the weekend, protests aiming to #KeepFamiliesTogether were held all over the country, including Tornillo, a border town where kids are detained, and McAllen, where more kids separated from their parents are being held in detention centers. Amber Heard, Evan Rachel Wood, Sia, Lena Dunham, Joshua Jackson, and Connie Britton were among the celebs to come from near and far to support for the immigrants.

Aquaman star Heard, who is from the Lone Star State, traveled home to show her support in the Tornillo protest and urge the government to reunite families separated by the “zero tolerance” policy. Like our first lady Melania Trump, she used fashion to express herself, wearing a white shirt with, “Yes, I do care. Do you?” written on the back in Spanish.

She also held up a sign that said, “Apartheid was legal. Holocaust was legal. Legality is a matter of power not justice.”

Law is meant to protect and defend justice, not destroy it.

Dunham of Girls fame, along with her collaborator Jenni Konner, were also in Tornillo with a big old gang that included Jackson, Constance Wu, Mira Sorvino, Casey Wilson, Bella Thorne, and Ione Skye. Dunham and Konner pledged to match donations to Voto Latino, which organized the rally, up to $10,000.

We came to Tornillo, Texas, to show our solidarity with the families who have been separated, the children who are alone, the parents who are grieving and the undocumented Americans who are losing more than I can fathom. Thank you, Tornillo, for showing us a warm border welcome and reminding us that together we rise. The Affair star Jackson shared that in the above photo, they were were “standing outside the detention facility where hundreds of children are being held in tents.” At 10 a.m., “it was already near 100 F… These are not summer camps. These are not acceptable conditions for children. This is a humanitarian crises of our own making.” He also shared video of the crowds at the protest to help set the scene.

Sia — sans headwear — also shared that she was matching donations to Voto Latino to help the kids — up to $100.000. She wrote that the org is doing “imperative work to protect and serve our asylum seekers.”

Actress Wilson’s message was pretty clear.

In Tornillo, Texas at the border where hundreds of refugee children are being detained in temporary shelters. We are here to bear witness. We are singing and chanting in hopes our voices will reach the tents. I hope they felt our love. #keepfamiliestogether This is not okay. This is not America. If you support Trump know that you are on the wrong side of history.

Sorvino described it as an emotional experience. “Tho they would not let us pass through, knowing that those children were there on the other side of the barbed wires, in a desert where the heat was easily over 100, made me want to fight even harder to #EndFamilySeparation,” she wrote.

Sorvino also had a message delivered in a fashion similar to the first lady’s on the back of an Army- style jacket: “We care.”

Meanwhile, the Westworld star, Wood, documented her journey with the hashtag #EvaninTexas, sharing photos of her weekend there, delivering supplies and visiting some of the young detainees in McAllen.

Just hung out with some of the families at one of the shelters people are sent to while they are being processed or awaiting deportation. Played with the kids for hours. They were so sweet, insanely smart, and creative. They have obviously been thru a lot and need supplies and medicine. #EvanInTX

She also participated in a 24-hour hunger strike to raise awareness about the children who were separated from their families after crossing the U.S. border.

She later delivered a message to haters, saying that the fast wouldn’t do anything to improve the political situation.

Beats sitting on the couch doing nothing but criticizing others for doing something.
