The Young Montalbano Premieres Exclusively on MHz Next Week

FALLS CHURCH, VA--(Marketwire - Oct 24, 2012) - Continuing on the global popularity of the original Detective Montalbano series on its primetime broadcast, MHz Networks has acquired The Young Montalbano series.

The prequel, produced by RAI, the Italian State broadcaster, premieres nationally on MHz Worldview on October 29-November 3 at 9 PM ET.

MHz Home Entertainment also releases the series on DVD the same day, along with the original Detective Montalbano series and the largest selection of international crime dramas on www.mhznetworks.org/shop and finer retailers and online everywhere.

The U.S. broadcast premier leads into a week-long marathon of the Best of Detective Montalbano episodes, selected by MHz International Mystery fans throughout the country, November 5-9 in primetime.

In Young Montalbano, viewers and Andrea Camilleri detective novel lovers (on which the series is based) get to know Salvo Montalbano before he became the seasoned and mature chief detective of the original series.

In the prequel, Montalbano is new to Vigata and new to being a police chief. He didn't always live in a glorious house by the sea, or have Deputy Chief Mimi Augello as a best friend, or Fazio as a loyal assistant. He didn't always go out with the beautiful Genoese architect, Livia Burlando.

The series, which premiered in Italy on RAI just this past February, brings together the genesis of the friendships, the rivalries and the romance as the players arrive to take their places in the beautiful Sicilian town of Vigata.

Young Montalbano joins other notable MHz International Mystery titles such as Montalbano, Spiral, Brunetti, Don Matteo, Maigret, Van Veeteren, Varg Veum, and Wallander.
