Hire an in-house team or outsource? Founders of YouTeam, a rent-a-talent online platform, say this question no longer stands. The service allows you to browse hundreds of profiles of software engineers and UX/UI designers and hire them for your project. How different is this from, say, UpWork? Well, YouTeam’s specialists are not freelancers. Instead they are employed full-time by carefully vetted agencies around the globe.
"Idle and underloaded staff incur about 10-20% of costs for a typical software company," explains Yura Riphyak, one of YouTeam’s founders. "Marketing expenses and recruiters' bonuses add another 20% on top of that. This is why the agencies gladly pay us our commission, which allows us to keep the service free for customers."
For start-ups and SMEs the platform provides an opportunity to get quick tech staff reinforcements or find a technology partner for a longer-term relationship. The process is almost the same as when hiring an in-house employee, but many times faster and more flexible: customers examine CVs, interview candidates and give them test assignments before signing a contract with their employer. YouTeam also provides added-value services that address key problems of traditional outsourcing, such as payment escrow and independent verification of a candidate’s skills.
"Essentially, we are combining the flexibility and cost-effectiveness of outsourcing with the transparency of the traditional recruitment process," says Anton Mishchenko, co-founder and CEO of YouTeam. "Yet for me, personally, YouTeam means much more than just an HR platform. Placing people before the brands can change the very nature of how businesses are dealing with each other, making entire industries more efficient, markets more open, and giving knowledge workers greater control over their careers."
After receiving customer acclaim at the latest Web Summit in Lisbon and TechCrunch Disrupt in London, YouTeam is now opening the beta version of its platform to the general public. It can be accessed at http://youte.am/.
