According to YouTube, the video site on Tuesday began featuring hundreds of artists’ upcoming U.S. tour dates on their YouTube videos. The listings appear in a new section underneath the video description on the official videos on their channels, on both desktop and mobile apps. Dates and venues are listed and include a direct link to Ticketmaster.com to purchase tickets.
Music videos consistently are among the most popular content on YouTube, which boasts more than 1.5 billion monthly visitors. The deal with Ticketmaster for its global roster of concerts is YouTube’s initial partnership in the ticketing space, with the partnership allowing artists to sell verified tickets to their fans.
According to YouTube, the video platform will roll out the ticketing feature to all artists who have Ticketmaster shows in North America. It has future plans to expand the feature worldwide.
