SAN FRANCISCO (AP) _ Zendesk Inc. (ZEN) on Thursday reported a loss of $36.2 million in its fourth quarter.
The San Francisco-based company said it had a loss of 32 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were 10 cents per share.
The results did not meet Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of nine analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 11 cents per share.
The customer-service software maker posted revenue of $229.9 million in the period, exceeding Street forecasts. Six analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $227.8 million.
For the year, the company reported that its loss widened to $169.7 million, or $1.53 per share. Revenue was reported as $816.4 million.
For the current quarter ending in April, Zendesk said it expects revenue in the range of $237 million to $242 million.
The company expects full-year revenue in the range of $1.05 billion to $1.07 billion.
Zendesk shares have risen 13% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $86.71, an increase of 20% in the last 12 months.
