Canadian technology startup for on-demand home services begins to take off, opens door to investors

Goulet co-founded zenGOT after she found herself desperate for help around the home. The day after her ailing father-in-law passed away, her husband was diagnosed with cancer. With two teenage boys, a special-needs daughter and a mother-in-law needing more support than ever, Catherine needed help from someone she could trust. Fortunately, she received support from a young woman who had become a trusted family friend.

After her experience, Catherine teamed up to build a marketplace for getting things done, from people you can trust. "We wanted to give customers the peace of mind they would get from a personal referral, while accessing a range of services and professionals." Goulet says zenGOT's system of ratings and reviews gives customers that assurance and keeps behaviour in check.

According to zenGOT's Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Andrew Jenkins , the platform's secret sauce is its rigorous onboarding which includes a comprehensive background check, mandatory orientation and an interview with a staff member. "This focus on vetting has given zenGOT a significant competitive edge. The success rates are remarkable: over 90% of customer ratings are 5 star," says Jenkins.
