Arizona wildfire kills 19

A lightning-sparked fire in Yarnell, Arizona, overtook an elite group of firefighters on June 30, killing 19 members as they tried to protect themselves from the flames under fire-resistant shields. At last count, about 500 firefighters were on the scene, with more on

the way. The fire has burned 8,400 acres, or about 13 square miles, as a

heat wave across the Southwest sent temperature soaring.
