These Expert-Recommended Peloton Bike Shoes Will Take Your Rides to the Next Level
Spin shoes come in all shapes and sizes—from the most basic to tricked-out options. But if you own a Peloton, the best Peloton bike shoes narrow down your options quite a bit, as you’ll need to find specific shoes that work with your beloved bike. Bike-specific shoes might feel gimmicky, but there’s a reason cycling instructors and equally devoted riders never go a class without them.
Meet the Expert: Karen Maxwell, C.P.T. is an ACE certified personal trainer, senior master instructor, and director of training at CycleBar.
“They allow for a smoother, more efficient ride, giving you a sense of security and mobility on the bike,” explains Karen Maxwell, C.P.T., director of training for CycleBar. “The design of the shoe promotes maximum potential as a rider. For indoor cycling, wearing a specialized shoe that fits the bike pedals will allow riders to lift up on the pedal, activating the hamstrings and glutes for power and speed instead of pushing down on the pedals with full body weight, applying too much pressure on the knees and quads.”
Peloton shoes specifically feature soles that are three-hole cleat compatible, meaning they can only fit three-hole Look Delta cleats. Some shoes are both two- and-three hole-cleat compatible, meaning they would work on the Peloton and other bikes. So if you’re hesitant about dishing out big bucks on shoes that only work with one bike—there are shoes that work with multiple models.
