There’s no shame in losing the Grammy Award for Best New Artist. Take a look at these five artists. All lost that award, but wound up receiving lifetime career honors from the Recording Academy.
The English heavy metal band lost to Crosby, Stills & Nash in 1969. CSN were nominated for Album of the Year for their eponymous debut album. This was Led Zep’s only nomination that year. Founding members Robert Plant and Jimmy Page finally won a Grammy in 1998. Plant won six Grammys, including Album and Record of the Year, for a 2007 collabo with Alison Krauss. Led Zep belatedly won their first Grammy for 2013’s Celebration Day. The band received a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2005. (Photo: Larry Hulst/Michael Ochs Archives/Getty Images)
