    China Citic Bank outlines big ambitions for new Kazakh unit

    China Citic Bank Corp has set a target to more than triple the assets of its newly acquired Kazakh unit, Altyn Bank, within three years, saying it can take advantage of growing trade under Beijing's Belt and Road project. China Citic board chairwoman Li Qingping said on Friday that the bank aims for Altyn Bank's assets to reach $4 billion by 2021. The Chinese bank completed its purchase of a 50.1 percent stake in Altyn Bank from Kazakhstan's Halyk Bank last month after initially agreeing the deal in 2016.

    HONG KONG/TORONTO (Reuters) - China's Tianqi Lithium is nearing a deal to buy a 24 percent stake in Chile's Sociedad Quimica Y Minera (SQM) (SQMa.SN), one of the world's biggest lithium producers, for about $4.3 billion, two people close to the transaction said. Chengdu-based Tianqi, which is building the world's biggest lithium processor in Western Australia, is looking to sign a deal to acquire the stake in SQM from Canadian fertilizer company Nutrien Ltd (NTR.TO), the people said. Based on SQM's market value of $14.8 billion at Monday's close, Tianqi would pay a roughly 22 percent premium for the shares in the world's lowest-cost producer of lithium.

    China's HNA Group [HNAIR.UL], the aviation-to-financial services conglomerate that is facing a severe cash crunch, received an important lifeline on Friday from China Citic Bank Corp , which extended the group a 20 billion yuan (2.29 billion pounds) credit facility.
