The market for equipment to make chips just keeps getting better and better, according to Keybanc analyst Weston Twigg, who today reiterates Overweight ratings on shares of Applied Materials (AMAT), Lam Research (LRCX) and KLA-Tencor (KLAC), among others. Twigg raises his outlook for how much chip makers will spending on capital equipment this year to an increase of 8% from what he had thought would be 5%, and “demand is tracking even higher this year, potentially over 10%." "Chipmakers appear to be sticking with expansion plans, with relatively steady demand for logic equipment, foundry a bit soft in 1H, but likely to improve in 2H."
