For long term AOI investors it's worth going to the company's website and then to Investor Relations and then to Events & Presentation to watch the 38 minutes presentation by Stefan Murrry, AOI CFO & Chief Strategy Officer to Needham Security Conference. He articles that 2021 looks very good for AAOI. Mostly due to their China 5G customer orders (anticipated). It's a good listen.

Given the cheap P/S of this stock going off their TTM revenue, their asset to liability ratio, and the market opportunities looking ahead, it’s not unrealistic to think $20 PT sometime in second half of 2021. It’s had a rough 24 months or so, but currently it is absolutely in value territory at this PPS

Don’t forget possibility of a buy out due to industry consolidation. It’s happening in several sectors already. From retailers to REIT to technology companies due to the pandemic as vaccines are now making its way to cure the world. That is good news for investors. Don’t let shorts scare you to sell.

Is there still a contractual relationship with Amazon? Amazon is in the lead with gov cloud development, besides they are in with the dems. Amazon buyout if they win B$$$ gov contract?

I usually bought this stock around $9 or lower and sell it at >$11 a few times. I am definitely all in with the current price.. just be patient and you will get your reward!

5G should help accelerate AAOI’s products in much higher volume and demand. I’m betting on that thesis. Also, covid vaccine could change everything soon. Buy low sell high.

Anyone know what happened to the company? It was bloody hot stock a few years ago, out performing its rival ACAI(?). I was surprised when Cisco bought the latter--look like it bought the right company. Did AAOI's technology fall behind? The stock performance looks similar to once hot Infineria which never recover its star.

Buy the trend. 5G requires optical products

$100 possible when 5G is everywhere with DDR 5 memory becomes standard. Only huge growth ahead in the next few years with no slowdown in sight. This is why buy while optical components are low besides there might be mergers and acquisitions coming as well.

Short sellers logic are wrong. They don’t take into account world economy growing again in the future. Also they don’t take into account the next generation of memory DDR5 or Wireless 5G to start build out in greater scale starting next year. We have two catalyst to have higher growth prospects for optical products. Logic and trend should be the decisive reason to buy now while stock is low. You don’t really need a surgeon brain to understand. Good luck

Pete, this is what AAOI management guided for at the Q2 ER:
For the third quarter of 2020, the company currently expects:
Revenue in the range of $76 million to $83 million.
Non-GAAP gross margin in the range of 25% to 26.5%.
Non-GAAP loss per share in the range of $0.20 to $0.03 .

They hit the low end of their revenue guidance with $76.6M reported.
They BEAT their non-GAAP gross margin guidance with 27.4% reported.
They hit the high end of their EPS range with a loss of $.06 reported.

So how exactly were you "played" by management? I think they did quite well hitting their guidance. I plan to hold for 2-3 more quarters at a minimum to see if they continue the turnaround that has clearly begun.

Sold half and bought NKLA at 22.05. Not going to sit around and watch this meander along.

Sell for a big loss or hold for a potential gain in a few years, yes id rather hold

NPTN also missed their earnings for third quarter two days ago But the stock bounced back. Hopefully AAOI will do the same. Second quarter they gave guidance for third quarter in a big way and not able to reach, Now for the fourth quarter they went very conservative in guidance. Now 5G market is hot hope that demand will push this stock up. Management is doing a horrible job. If they don’t know how to run the business they better get it acquired by someone.

It's problematic that management at the Wainwright virtual conference in mid-September guided for Q3 ($79.5M), which is mid-point of the range they announced at Q2 CC. Then last week they announce that they missed the Wainwright conference guidance by > $2+M.
