Alliance Data Systems Corp. said Tuesday it is exploring "strategic alternatives" for its Epsilon business, which includes a potential sale of the business. The stock rose 0.6% in premarket trade. The data-driven marketing company said the potential sale includes Epsilon's digital media arm, Conversant. The company said if the outcome of the exploration is a divestiture, it plans to use the net proceeds to pay down debt and for shareholder returns through share repurchases and/or dividends. Alliance Data said it retained Evercore as financial advisor and Latham & Watkins as legal advisor. Alliance Data's stock has tumbled 16% over the past three months, while the S&P 500 has lost 7.7%.
