  • Most reits were hit today, and AI may have made a bottom, for this quarter. If it retests tomorrow, good time to buy cheap.

  • How solid is this stock? I'm thinking about investing in this high dividend stock.
  • I must say I was wrong about the impact of the dividend cut. Share price has risen nicely since the announcement. Clearly many investors consider the current dividend, which while a cut is still very high, to be secure. Time will tell.

  • Why do most of these dividend stocks go down 30-50% the day before ex-dividend and down the amount of the dividend the day of the ex dividend. Seems like most of them do this. Why??
  • I said AI is no more risky than NRZ. Look at NRZ now and read the news, and you will see what I mean.
  • I predicted it might be cut though I expected it to be .57 or higher. But .55 is just fine; it is far more sustainable and will prevent the leakage in BV we have seen. After, perhaps, a knee jerk, I expect the SP to go higher. Most stocks paying .55/q and up are in the $17's at least, and are at least as risky as AI. SXCP for example. Or consider NRZ; a good company, no doubt, but paying only .48/q and in the $16's. This dividend adjustment makes AI much less risky, IMO.
  • I have a small position in AI,I would like to increase my position,I'm a little skeptical
of the size of the the dividend compared to other merits?
    Any advice would be appreciated.
  • Zacks upgrades to buy. I often disagree with Zacks; hope it's not the kiss of death! They say that analysts have increased earnings estimates. If so, great if they are right, but sometimes they get ahead of reality. I like AI for the dividend and think it is sustainable, approximately.
  • Read the CC transcript; and, no, I don't understand all the details. But listening to the Q&A tells me these guys are very smart. They are able to maximize earnings through a very complex mix of hedges ,leverage, funding technique, and use of a variety of investment vehicles. This statement is what I like most: "Our hedging strategy enables the company to maintain an attractive return on its agency MBS portfolio, in order to produce resilient and predictable core operating income that supports attractive dividends to our shareholders. " In response to a question they hinted that they expect to be able to continue the dividend in the near term as is. No one can promise that, of course, but I feel I can trust their expectation. Every time you read one of these, you learn a little bit more; I urge everyone to read and share.
  • "Arlington Asset Investment Corp. Declares $0.875 per Share Dividend for the First Quarter of 2014" ....the good ole days
  • Just bought 2K more. Idiots get a terrific report and sell out to a bear raid! Thank you, bears, and thanks to losers also. I'll take that monster divvy.
  • Q1 report on 4/26, EOD; CC next morning at 9. I think it will be good; they give us plenty of time to review before CC.
  • when is the pay date for the .625 divy?

  • I own 20 call contracts at SP $12.50. After reviewing chart I have decided to execute them and take the big dividends. Yeah, it may get hit on xdiv, but in the past it recovers in a few days. This is really too cheap for this stock, with BV over $16, and huge yield of 17%. It fell from the $15's, due to confusion with another company's div announcement.
  • Ex div today!

  • Shorts are 11% of float. They have been doing a good job of holding the SP under $15. But they are not stupid and will not want to have to pay the big dividend. Do not give your shares to them as they hope to cover; make em pay up.

  • Financials are being talked down with claims about yield curve flattening. BS, IMO; it's a short term phenomenon; long rates rise a little slower. Also, doesn't hurt reits unless they fund mortgages with short term borrowing, which is insane in current environment. AI should be able to exploit rate increase for higher core earnings, although it is still necessary to hedge for paper losses.
