    Public company aims to scale 90-year-old Denver insurance agency's approach

    A Denver-based insurance firm that specializes in high net worth individuals and businesses is settling into its acquisition by a global insurance brokerage and consulting services firm. Denver Agency Company was acquired in August by Illinois-based Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. (NYSE: AJG), a Fortune 500 company that is interested in leveraging Denver Agency’s specialization in private client practice. All 37 employees at Denver Agency Company have remained at the company's Cherry Creek office, continuing operations as normal aside from an increase in resources and scale from Gallagher, said Eric Gordon, now area president of private clients for Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. The 90-year-old Colorado company made a good fit for Gallagher in its business style, Gordon said.
