Algoma Central Corporation owns and operates a fleet of dry and liquid bulk carriers on the Great Lakes - St. Lawrence Waterway in Canada. It operates in three segments: Domestic Dry-Bulk, Product Tankers, and Ocean Shipping. The Domestic Dry-Bulk segment owns and manages a domestic dry-bulk fleet of 20 vessels, as well as the operational management of 4 vessels that carry cargoes of raw materials, such as grain, iron ore, salt, and aggregates. The Product Tankers segment owns and manages SIX Canadian flag tanker vessels on the Great Lakes, the St. Lawrence Seaway, and the east coast of North America. The Ocean Shipping segment owns FOUR ocean-going self-unloading vessels that carry dry-bulk commodities in worldwide ocean trades. Algoma Central Corporation also provides diversified ship repair, steel fabrication, machine shop, and electrical repair services. The company was formerly known as Algoma Central Railway and changed its name to Algoma Central Corporation in 1990. Algoma Central Corporation was founded in 1899 and is based in St. Catharines, Canada.
