People were worried about the future of cell phones as satellites are proposed as the next gen antenna. AMT buys data centers and people sell off? Doesn't make sense, seems like a good opportunity to buy.
always add here on weakness. Been doing that for the last 100 points. It always comes back. People have short memories. Once all of their recent acquisitions are applied to next years sales/earnings, the stock will make big moves. We will see $300 by year end 2022.
Not surprisingly, there have been a few S.A. posts related to AMT.
At 4:00 P.M. each day, I receive S.A.'s "Must Reads" which I believe are its most popular reads.
Today's Must Reads email had the subject "Buy The Dividend Monster: American Tower", as the post on AMT was the first of 6 S.A. posts that were featured in the text.
A decent read (and as is often the case, the comments as well).
Nothing wrong with additional awareness!
It will be interesting to see the market reaction if AMT buys CoreSite. I think it should be well received but the market can be fickle about these things.
20 Years ago today I (last) bought AMT shares--where does the time go?
Total Return 11/9/01 - 11/9/21:
S&P 500 520%
S&P Real Est. Index 282%
For 10, 5 and three years, AMT also outperformed. Past twelve months not so much:
Yes, I've sold some shares along the way.
What a great move with the data center buy. Fantastic!!!
I just read another S.A. post dated today: American Tower Buys CoreSite--How It Affects Shareholders" written by Dane Bowler.
"Overall, I like the acquisition. It is quite clear to me that AMT paid a high price for the assets and that overpaying is likely what the market is reacting to with the roughly 4% selloff. However, the math still looks quite good with it being accretive near and long term. I see the dip as a nice buying opportunity."
Typical market reaction; this will just be yet another buying opportunity!! I'm hoping there's an even bigger negative market reaction so I can buy at even a lower price!!
FYI.....not a bear on the cell tower companies.......but I heard the story on CNBC today about SpaceX launching the first round of satellites that will be part of a network of 3200 satellites that will provide high speed internet to the entire world. What is the technical perspective here? Will we still need cell towers? Any tech guys out there with some insights?
We just "extended the edge"! Excellent.
Guys - The reason for the weakness is that AMT is a top holding in REIT ETFs. Investors are cutting back holdings there as rates increase, so the managers of those funds have to sell some of all of their holdings to stay true to the index that they are linked to. I have not posted here for a while, but have been here for years. My cost is very low. As long as AMT keeps taking share around the world, and most importantly, keeps increasing the dividend EVERY QUARTER, I won't be going anywhere,
Awaiting around $200
Added just under $255
Added more down $11
CoreSite has been paying a north of 3% dividend. Mama gonna get new shoes! 😏

261 to 284 in 11 calendar days. That's more like it.
I have followed both Crown Castle and AMT. Both have been falling and a few Funds have bailed. Am wondering if it is because cheap money is coming to an end and rates are climbing. Both have a LOT of debt. Could this be why?
AMT generated much more in revenues than it spent during the most recently completed quarter.
The company's continuing operations are more profitable than those of many other companies in its industry, resulting in an operating margin that is above its industry average.
Jefferies just cut the price target from $356 to $336. That is still a nice appreciation percentage from here.
