Seattle-based Microsoft Corp. (MSFT) and Houston-based Halliburton Co. (HAL) announced a deal Aug. 22 to provide machine learning, augmented reality and internet of things technology for the oil and gas industry. The collaboration will allow the companies to apply voice and image recognition, video processing and virtual reality to create a digital representation of a physical asset, according to a statement. In addition, the companies will use digital representation for oil wells and pumps using Halliburton’s Landmark division and Microsoft’s Azure platform, according to the statement.
