What is the intrinsic value of the USD and what is the intrinsic value of one Troy ounce of gold. The big crash is coming, long and strong AUY, AEM and GFI. Gold will climb to 2100 by October. The economy will fall into a recession and gold will be the best hedge. Todays retail numbers show how quickly the economy is slowing. CYA, live long and prosper.

Do not forget that Wed the 25th is a large gold COMEX Option expiry for futures options that have been traded since July 1st, 2016. Watch for significant volatility in the price of gold through settlement on the 27th.. Running of the stops is almost a certainty on the 26th of May. Opportunity for profits for the nimble and well funded, potential disaster for the foolish or leveraged...

    Inflation tidbits:
Lumber futures prices are falling rapidly in response to higher mortgage rates.
European gas prices are 4 times higher than they were last year at this time.
Gold in 95% of the worlds currencies is significantly higher than ever before.
Do not count gold out on a significant rally going forward...

May 25th is Option Expiry for the massive June 2022 gold contract. These contracts started trading on July 1st of 2016 when gold was substantially lower in price. The volume of contracts to be unwound, delivered on or rolled over is tremendous. About three weeks ago I mentioned this volatility to you guys to this and suggested that there would be substantial volatility to play with... It's real and its going to continue until at least the 25th for gold (actually more like the 27th for settlement). Enjoy the trading!

Back in the "olden days," I used to panic sell, oftentimes, and always regretted letting my stocks go so cheaply when they continued to run the stops on a daily basis. At this time, it's estimated that ONLY 12% of a stock's price is affected by actual personal purchases, while 88% is due to machine's algorithms. These days I keep in mind, one of the richest men in the world, Warren Buffet's sage advice, which is that it is ALWAYS best to be greedy when others are fearful. Thank you, market riggers for this opportunity!!!

There is no way the Fed's current and proposed 1/2 point rate hikes will come close to taming inflation. They are more focused on maintaining inflated stock prices then adhering to their actual mandate! Mining stocks will do well for many years due to Fed inaction!

Food for thought, what if the gold weakness results from people selling what they "can", in a highly liquid market, particularly gold futures, to fund losses and, in today's case, a +4% rally in the NASDAQ... MAYBE there is some degree of nefarious central planning to this whole ecosystem. This could backfire, sending gold to new highs, and with that, the dollar and treasuries in a 180 to 200-day outlook... 😐

The Annual Meeting and report are well worth the listen and read... Later this fall we should have the feasibility study in hand for MARA and be able to monetize that asset. I honestly see Yamana receiving $3 billion and a gold royalty stream for the life of the project. With it comes a billion dollar share buyback and the funding of accelerated development at Malartic and Jacobina.
    Long and strong!

When it comes to the world of trade and investments, most people don't know where to start. Fortunately, great investors of the past and present can provide us with guidance. You might want to ask, who are the great investors to guide us?

Watch CNBC's Fridays 5/06/22 episode of Options Action. Cater Worth had a lot of good information of golds performance in previous US bear markets.

A 4 cent to 8 cent increase in annual dividend could really help share price and not have significant impact on balance sheet if gold price stays above $1850. Just saying. It tells public that management has high confidence in operations and future income. The lack of increase also says something about what they're thinking.

The company said it earned US$57.8 million, or US$0.06, in the period, up from US$54.7 million, or US$0.06, in the year-prior quarter. Adjusted earnings, which exclude most one-time items, were US$83.6 million, or US$0.09 per share, topping the average analyst estimate for the adjusted result of US$0.06 per share, according to Capital IQ.

The miner's revenue rose 4.7% to US$441.9 million, as its gold and silver production rose 2.9% to 238,617 gold-equivalent ounces while all-in sustaining costs rose 3.7% to US$1,084 per equivalent ounce. Yamana said the costs were lower than it expected, given its prior forecast for the quarter to be the weakest of the year.

Share price is down 20% since its recent high of $6.40 on April 18 when gold hit about $1990. Even that "great" earnings report couldn't stop a 20% decline in share price with a 9% decline in gold price.
I know you wouldn't ask me, but I'd say the earnings report was a meh and the gold price seems to be all that matters. It doesn't help that everything is for sale when the rest of the market is falling, but this I know. When you can demonstrate extraordinary earnings, this doesn't happen. Why do I still have this stock. Because I actually thought we might see 6s again soon, but with gold collapsing, I think 4s and even 3s are possible again soon. Nothing these guys are going to put in their report or say about it is going to matter because the bottom line sure seems to be 90+% about the price of gold and that's what the market is telling you.

Another excellent quarter is in the books. .09 in adjusted earnings is above analyst estimates and squarely in the middle of my estimate. Revenue was within 1% of where I thought it would come in. Cash on hand stayed about the same at $516.4 million and $34.7 million of debt was paid off. Net debt according to my calculations is now down to approximately $190 million. $21.9 million in currency adjustments accounted for most of the upward net adjustment of .03. Given this is the worst quarter of the year, it was a good start to the year.
