AVA has $2.46B in debt with (D/E) ratio of 1.24, which indicated HIGH RISK given its current industry classification. Avista has a current ratio of 0.62, suggesting that it has not enough short term capital to pay financial commitments. In addition, if we take a look at current financial statements, current liabilities are up significantly while return on assets and gross margin are down continually for past few years.
Up hugely the past couple sessions and NONE of the stock advisory services has told us why it's happening nor told us in advance that it might happen.
Why has AVA tanked to 50.36 when the buyout price 7 months from now (August 2018) is supposed to be $53.00 ?? Have some big investors with negative inside information about AVA or the buyout been selling their shares this month causing the share price to decline? Is there really a substantial risk the buyout will not be approved causing the share price to plummet back into the 30's?
AVA is an okay utility and recent drop may be due to uncertainty about forest fires.
Essentially wondering the same thing. I'ts Sept 2018, the price is $51 and someone just downgraded it from neutral to sell. Is the takeover in jeopardy?
I don’t see why more people don’t see the value in AVA? They are way ahead of the curve in providing hydro power/solar/wind power and have put emphasis on moving towards providing more green energy to their customers through Capex projects. They also have done a good job in reducing their debt over the years as I have seen all the different phases of their development since I have been with them for over 20 years just letting it DRIP.
Based on the 22% (!!!) drop in price of AVISTA (AVA) & the lack of any coverage on most financial Websites -- CNBC, Yahoo!, MarketWatch, to name a few that I checked -- I have to say the work product (& by extension, the stock price) of those companies is practically worthless !!
IOW, I wouldn't pay $1 a share for CNBC, Yahoo!, MarketWatch, etc., if they were publicly traded as independent entities.
That may be a bit harsh, but some have the latest news on AVA dating back 3-4 months or more. Makes you wonder if they get paid to cover & hype up a company... is that even legal ?!?
does anybody have any info on AVA other than informing everyone about stock picking sites.
This is just as bad as reading the posts on the CSCO sight. All those commentors talk about is politics and Pres. Trump. nothing about Cisco Systems. I thought all the posts were to be about the stock.

When will the Take over happen. If the take- over price is $53 per share,..... why is it trading in the $51 + range ?? P
Anyone have a guess why AVA is on a slow down ward trend from April 1 time frame?
Up big. Something is going on!!!
AVA looks over sold @40.82
I wonder if they will get regulatory approval on the buy out. I believe it is in doubt so I sold.
Been working on a tool that generates the value of a $10,000 investment over time for a given stock. In the upper graph, the yellow line includes the effect of splits and re-investment of dividends, the blue line is based on splits and no re-investment of divs. The lower graph shows dividend payments per share by year and takes splits into account. 2018 dividend bar is short because the 4Q dividend has not been paid yet. AVA has not had any splits in the last 20 years. This is something you can easily get for mutual funds and ETFs, but I wanted it for stocks. Comments and constructive critique welcomed.
$AVA manipulated, dropping to $8 tomorrow morning!
With management that is checked out, super high PE ratio, it should go down to about 33$.
