BRANDON, Fla., Aug. 22, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Desk Phone Designs, a provider of custom designed desk phone covers, has been selected by Avaya (AVYA) as one of the newest technology partners in the Avaya DevConnect program. According to reports, the enterprise communications software company is considering a buyout offer from the private-equity firm Clayton, Dubilier & Rice.
The Santa Clara company, which filed for bankruptcy in January 2017 and sold its networking business to Extreme Networks for $100 million later that year, couldn’t immediately be reached for comment.
Shares of Avaya Holdings were halted briefly on Monday after the stock jumped about 10% following a report that the telecommunications-equipment maker was in discussions to combine with rival Mitel Networks. Bloomberg reported, citing sources, that the companies have held "on-and-off discussions" about a potential deal since April. Bloomberg said that if a deal were struck, the terms being considered would see Mitel's investors own about a third of the combined business and Mitel expected synergies of at least $250 million a year.
The provider of cloud-based communications platforms mollified worried investors somewhat with a decent third-quarter report, but there's much work left to be done.
Avaya, which emerged from bankruptcy protection 19 months ago, is in advanced talks with a number of potential partners.
