    Airbnb settles lawsuit with San Francisco

    Airbnb has reached a settlement with its hometown after a long-standing dispute over how to regulate vacation and short-term rentals. The agreement was signed this morning to end the legal battles between Airbnb and other short-term rental companies with the City of San Francisco. In the settlement , the parties agreed to dismiss the legal challenges to San Francisco's short-term rental rules.

The typical price for a booked night in Phoenix this weekend is $94, and in Glendale, where the games will be played at University of Phoenix Stadium, the average price is $110. The top origin cities for inbound guests are, in order: New York, Seattle, Portland, Chicago, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Denver, Tucson, Calgary, San Jose.

    How Expedia changed HomeAway's business model to take on Airbnb

    Expedia Inc. is transitioning HomeAway’s business model a year after buying the Texas-based vacation rental company for $3.9 billion. HomeAway used to make money by charging subscription fees to owners or managers of vacation rental properties. Expedia is switching the Airbnb competitor to a transaction-based model by charging travelers a fee when they book a rental and charging property managers a commission fee for the listing.
