Alibaba’s CFO comments on the Bill forcing Chinese firms to meet U.S. accounting standards:

Chief Financial Officer Maggie Wu told investors the firm would "endeavor to comply with any legislation whose aim is to protect and bring transparency to investors who buy securities on U.S. stock exchanges."

to me the DIDI news is actually good news in that it is possible for BABA to transfer shares to another exchange too if it comes to that. But by all means, keep selling at this level :D

Alipay announced the mutual recognition of receipt scanning codes nationwide with China UnionPay.
Alipay and China UnionPay jointly prompted the cooperation among 28 banks and institutions, including ICBC, CCB, BOC and MiPay. In 2015 the UnionPay overtook Visa and Mastercard in a total amount of value of payment transactions made by customers and became the largest card payment processing organization (debit and credit cards combined) in the world surpassing the two.

I think investors see from Didi there is smooth transition from nyse to hkd if need be. This delisting doesn’t matter

If BABA gets delisted, what will happen to its 900 million active monthly users in China, what will happen to its 280 million international monthly users (this category is still growing fast), what will happen to its hundreds of cloud computing centers in 25 countries and regions including Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia to name a few?

Will they all just vaporize overnight, like its stock?

To many people will sell/short this stock and think it will fall further. Maximum fear is around the corner and a moment will come the stock price will move up. Undervalued heavily and I wouldn’t be surprised if we open negative due to DiDi news to shake out weak hands in first hour and then recover during the day. Good luck all.

Luckin Coffee was delisted in June 2020. It was approx. $1.40
Today, Luckin still trades in NY "over the counter". Close today was $13.64
It is not "listed", but the average trading volume is still 1.4 million shares, per day.

    Julius Caesar - Renaissance
November 2014 stock price hit 120.00 USD / share for the first time.
At that time the company was about 1/7th of the current company; now 7 years later, this is selling like war is about to happen between US and China - I am not saying it will not, but I believe chance of war is single digit percentage.

If Alibaba delisted, what will happen to those who owns shares?

Bought more $122, but it keeps falling. I never seen panic like this before about specific stock

So Didi announces that it is delisting and shares are up 9% premarket? Why would that be?
  • I
This is your opportunity to buy a great company at cheaper prices. Buy on margin if you want to be like Munger

I couldn't be happier that I found . In the market, every trader needs an edge. Trade Ideas is my edge because it is fast, accurate and flexible. It helps me increase my profitability by quickly finding stocks that are moving and lists them in a way that allows me to decide which one I want to trade.

To secure a future for our children and unborn generation, thereby generating more income, it is time we learn and get more ideas for their sake.

delisting is fakenews to drive the price down. Smart money knows this is a good investment and wants your shares
  • J
Shared Didi will go up if gets delisted in US. Actually it's better to just have shares in HK than dual listing.

China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) expressed that it is aware of certain media reports suggesting that the Chinese regulatory department is planning to ban overseas listings of Chinese companies with VIE structure, yet it clarified that such reports are false.

    Stock delisting summed up
    - A stock is delisted when a public company is removed from a stock exchange
    - Stock delistings happen either voluntarily or when stock exchanges force companies to delist
    - Shareholders still own the shares but can only sell them OTC when the stock is delisted
Stock delistings don’t inherently devalue shares, but forced delistings can be a sign of impending bankruptcy, leading to a drop in share value
    - Stocks are delisted all the time, such as Burger King in 2010 and 2014, Dell in 2013, US Airways in 2002 and 2005 and three Chinese telecommunications companies in 2021

I’m not checking on this board anymore. I wish you all prosperity, but this is the kind of investment you buy and hold for 3-5 years and don’t check the ticker. I won’t pay huge capital gains by then, and it’s even possible that we ll see a completely different US monetary system in 2024-2025. I think that the Chinese will have recovered and entered an expansionary period by 2023.

You can set alerts, yes, but not incessantly monitor. It’s a lot of anxiety. I do believe that alibaba can do a better job of managing my money for me than almost any other company in the world right now. They have a lot of cash and growth plans, bigger than anything I have going on. My grandma was Chinese and I’m sure she’s in heaven, happy with my investment. Happy lunar new year :) “I hope you get rich!”
