Basanite Industries LLC (BASA) (hereinafter “Basanite”) has received its permit to power up and begin all phases of calibration, material verification and testing to produce BasaFlexTM, its enhanced basalt fiber reinforced polymer (BFRP) designed to replace steel reinforcement in concrete structures. BasaFlexTM addresses a significant problem in the replacement of failing infrastructure – concrete corrosion caused by steel reinforcement. As a non-corrosive reinforcement that is one-quarter the weight of steel and has high tensile strength, BasaFlexTM is designed to meet specifiers’ demands for longer-lasting concrete components when they are rebuilding or replacing infrastructure, according to Richard Krolewski, Basanite CEO.
Basanite Industries LLC (BASA) (hereinafter “Basanite”) continues to work with government agencies and industry leading precast manufacturers to raise the profile of basalt fiber reinforced polymer as the answer to eliminating corrosion in concrete structures. “In North America, and across the globe, the concrete industry is moving toward greater sustainability in manufacturing and increasing resiliency in structures,” said Richard Krolewski, Basanite CEO. Gregory Cline, P.E., a retired subject matter expert with the Federal Aviation Agency and the Naval Facilities Engineering Command, had worked with Krolewski on the FAA’s recent airfield construction specification update.
Basanite Industries announces critical approval from the governing agencies in south Florida for manufacturing “next generation”, non-corrosive concrete reinforcement at its new state-of-the-art facility in Pompano Beach, Florida. Upon the arrival of Basanite’s brand new pultrusion equipment in May of 2019, Basanite began a complete build-out of its Pompano Beach facility. The permitting process has been the most important aspect in the preparation of the facility, which included working with some of Florida’s finest contractors and engineers to ultimately build a series of Plans that met the stringent requirements of the City and County, as well as Federal codes and guidelines.
After six months of intensive preparation, Basanite Industries, LLC (hereafter referred to as “Basanite”) is nearing the start-up of its plant in Pompano Beach, Florida. The company continues to work with the City of Pompano Beach to achieve final approvals and permitting for the launch of its new manufacturing facility in the City’s industrial district. Basanite will manufacture basalt fiber reinforced polymer (BFRP) rebar and fiber that provides a non-corrosive solution to traditional steel reinforcement in concrete structures.
