Big 5 is a great company with growth potential. I just wish there was a way to keep ETF's and individuals from selling BGFV options. This amounts to predatory behavior which undermines traditional "Buy and Hold" approach to owning stocks. In the absence of regulatory oversight this practice will continue to destroy good companies like Big 5. I hope Big 5 figures out a way to fight back and force these stock manipulators to look elsewhere.
I had a thought. BGFV is actually doing ok sales and profit wise. It has benefited from the closings of a couple of competitors in the last year. Others are still closing stores, although bigger stores such as Sears, Macy's, and JCPenney. These are not direct competitors, don't really sell any sporting equipment (at least that I know of). But they do sell sports clothes and shoes. Maybe these will give BGFV a boost, however how small.
Chart shows upswing in process. I am in 1000@$13.40
Shorts are in control of the price. Seems like a good time to add more shares! Wish I had some $'s to average down more. Should have waited, but I really didn't think it would go down that much more.
Besides the short interest retail isn't doing well as a sector.
No huge sell off, why would there be? larger dividend than shameless XOM..
Why the huge sell off. Glad I got out at 16.25. Not so lucky getting out of AMD, TEVA.
buy, buy, buy, xdate coming..
I think BGFV might have reached its upward limit and that a pullback may be possible. Do you guys find it difficult to know when to buy or sell something? I prefer to get my stocks from aawesomestocks.
Shorty getting squeezed today
Anyone with any ideas why BGFV has had a nice rise over the past couple of days?
Earnings aren't for sometime. Any reports on sales of late, general or specific? I know that the drought is pretty much over, but has there been any specific reports of sale increases?
Sometimes there is speculation of buyouts. I usually ignore them. But it was nice to see this stock over 20 a few months ago, and I would like to see the same again.

A lot of short interest with this stock. Going up with the price. Wonder when they are going to drive the stock price down and by how much? I will be buying more when they do. They are opening a new store in my town. Seem to be growing when other stores are closing up. We lost a Sports Authority, so happy to see a Big Five take its place. It's going to be the only sporting goods store in town. Seems like good marketing.
http://thesubwaytrader.com/?s=BGFV has an alert for $BGFV. Did anyone happen to see it as well? Looking for some good positive information from the company! Investing making money. Kleptomaniac: a rich thief.

We must not forget that when radium was discovered no one knew that it would prove useful in hospitals. The work was one of pure science. And this is a proof that scientific work must not be considered from the point of view of the direct usefulness of it. It must be done for itself, for the beauty of science, and then there is always the chance that a scientific discovery may become like the radium a benefit for humanity. http://dataunion.tistory.com/1305

I'm probably reading too much into this, but there seems to be a little more late day trading and after hours. But don't overreact to the price of after hours posted (up 25 cents), it was only two late trades for less than 100 combined (although there seemed to be a fair amount of stock picked up at 15.10).
Things are looking good here. BGFV rated #1 by many market pundits. BGFV seems to be busy in the stores out here on the West Coast. I will spend at least $1,000 with them this year on shoes alone.
