Aria Energy announces the commissioning of a landfill gas (LFG) to renewable natural gas (RNG) project at the Waste Connections-owned Butler County Landfill in David City, Neb. Aria Energy constructed, owns and operates the project, which processes and purifies up to 1,000 cubic feet per minute of LFG into pipeline quality RNG. Landfills above a certain size are required to install a collection system to transport the gas to a collection facility to prevent it from rising into the atmosphere where it would become a greenhouse gas 21 times more potent than carbon dioxide. The captured LFG is purified into RNG which displaces the use of fossil fuels and can significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the community.
Feb. 1, 2019 - Black Hills Corp. (BKH) today announced that its natural gas utility Black Hills Colorado Gas, doing business as Black Hills Energy, filed a rate review proposal with the Colorado Public Utilities Commission to consolidate the rates, tariffs and services of its two legacy gas utilities in Colorado. The rate review also requests $2.5 million in new revenue to recover investments in safety, reliability and system integrity for natural gas service to its 187,000 Colorado customers.

(BKH) announced today its Black Hills Energy electric utility subsidiaries in South Dakota and Wyoming filed for approval of new, voluntary renewable energy tariffs to serve customer requests for renewable energy resources. In addition, Black Hills Energy South Dakota and Wyoming electric utilities filed a joint application with the Wyoming Public Service Commission for a certificate of public convenience and necessity to construct a new $57 million, 40-megawatt wind generation project near Cheyenne, Wyoming.

(BKH) today announced that its power generation subsidiary, Black Hills Electric Generation, LLC, completed the purchase of a 50 percent ownership interest in the 29-megawatt Busch Ranch I Wind Farm located near Pueblo, Colorado, for approximately $16 million from AltaGas Power Holdings (U.S.) Inc. Black Hills Colorado Electric, an affiliate utility company doing business as Black Hills Energy, owns the remaining 50 percent ownership and operates the wind farm. The Busch Ranch I Wind Farm is located 30 miles south of Pueblo, Colo., in Huerfano County, and consists of 16 wind turbines.

(BKH) today announced that its Wyoming electric utility subsidiary, Cheyenne Light, Fuel and Power Co., doing business as Black Hills Energy, submitted its 2018 Integrated Resource Plan to the Wyoming Public Service Commission. The plan recommends that Cheyenne Light`s long-term electric capacity and energy needs be met utilizing a balanced mix of generation resources, including coal, natural gas and renewable resources, including wind and solar. The plan also recommends that Cheyenne Light`s near term electric energy and capacity needs be met through the purchase of the Wygen I power plant, located near Gillette, Wyoming, as the least cost resource.
